An affordable area rug

I love, love, love our hardwood floors. I hated, hated, hated when our furniture slid across the floor. In the morning, it would be just so in the living room and by the end of the evening, it had slid totally off kilter.

After some Pinterest eyeballing I decided a large area rug was the only solution…but then I saw the cost of ’em. Ouch! They ranged in price from $1,000 to $3,000. I just couldn’t talk myself into such a huge investment.

I decided a carpet remnant was in my future. Our neighborhood carpet place (by neighborhood I mean on the highway down the road), has a huge room full of remnants of various colors, textures and designs. Here’s the lovely I found…

Luverly!

Green wasn’t my first choice but I loved the texture and the remnant was already bound which saved me about $150. La familia teased me as we hoisted it into the Yukon that it reminded them of the shag carpeting. I asked them to trust me and go with it. I think it’s starting to grow on them.

The best part is it’s super soft which makes it really nice when we’re lounging on the floor playing Old Maid. And of course, the price was really, really good. When it was all said and done I spent $160. YES!
