My first case is here

I messaged on Facebook last week that I finished the last part of my training to become a CASA volunteer which was the final interview. I was nervous as I knew the next step would be certification and eventually a case.

This morning, I got “the email.” They said my certification is going out today, and they already have a case waiting for me once it’s official.

I’m nervous about many things. Will my preconceived ideas match up with reality? Will I be able to manage the case, my expectations, their expectations, etc.?  What if I have to testify in court? What will the family be like?

On the other hand, I’m excited to finally get my feet wet in the court system and see the reality of our sweet little town.

Mostly I’m excited to stretch myself in ways I never have before.
