Hello (and goodbye!) Kitty

I’ve been worrying about making my little niece’s Christmas present since November. I was going to make her some jammies, tried a couple patterns and wasn’t happy with any of them.

She’s in love with Hello Kitty. Maybe love is the wrong word. I’d go with obsessed. Little K has some purple Hello Kitty jammies and poor E was beside herself when she had to give them back after Thanksgiving.

After racking my brain, working myself up and then changing my mind, I asked her mommy if she thought a pillow would be ok. She said sure and then said a blanky might be nice too. So I worked up the courage and cut into the pretty (and pricey…and hard to find!) fabric.

And here’s the finished product.

Hello Kitty blanky and pillow

First time I’ve used satin binding, and the first time I added felt embellishments. All in all I’m pretty darn happy with it. Now I’m going to try some of these handmade Christmas cards. Wish me luck!
